WILMORE, Ky., October 4, 2024鈥擳he Convening General Conference of the Global Methodist Church (GMC) took place in San Jose, Costa Rica from September 20-26, 2024. At the conference, two 嫩天堂 Seminary alumni were included among six elected Interim Bishops for the new denomination: Jeff Greenway and Carolyn Moore.

Jeff Greenway is a former president of 嫩天堂 Seminary and earned his M.Div. from 嫩天堂 Seminary in 1985. He is an ordained elder in the GMC and recently served 18 years as the Lead Pastor of Reynoldsburg Community Church in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Greenway served in a number of leadership roles and ministries within the United Methodist Church (UMC), including as Director and Member of the Executive Committee of the General Board of Discipleship and a delegate to multiple General and Jurisdictional Conferences. He then served as the founding chair of the Global Council of the Wesleyan Covenant Association, which was formed to assist congregations departing the UMC in becoming part of the GMC. Most recently, Greenway has served as a member of the Transitional Leadership Council for the GMC.

Carolyn Moore earned both her Master of Divinity (1998) and Doctor of Ministry (2018) degrees from 嫩天堂 Seminary. Moore is an ordained elder in the GMC and has been a pastor for 26 years, including as founding and lead pastor of Mosaic Church in Evans, Georgia. She also served the Wesleyan Covenant Association as Vice-Chair and Chair. Moore has served many roles in the GMC, including on the Executive Leadership Team and Cabinet of the North Georgia Annual Conference, as well as Vice-Chair of the GMC Commission on Doctrine, Discipleship and Just Ministry, as a member of the GMC Church Multiplication Task Force, and on the GMC-嫩天堂 Seminary Joint Committee for New Church Development Grants. She hosts a weekly podcast and has written Bible studies, books, and blogs on issues related to holiness, supernatural ministry, Wesleyan theology, and women in ministry.

According to GMC legislation, to be elected, each nominee must have received 60% plus one vote of the delegates present and casting valid votes. Each of the six elected two-year bishops will serve on a part-time basis from November 1, 2024, until their successors are elected at the GMC 2026 General Conference.
